Welcome to the Brain & Behavior Dynamics Lab!

The BBD lab seeks to understand the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying the development, progression, and perpetuation of substance use and other health-related behaviors. We use functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and ecological behavior tracking to investigate acute fluctuations and long-term developmental changes in brain function implicated in reward sensitivity, executive function, and interoceptive awareness. We aim to enable an ecologically valid understanding of substance use motivations and vulnerability by assessing behavior in real-world contexts and examining brain function over multiple time scales.
